Breast Implants: Different Ways to Achieve Your Goals

When you look at yourself in the mirror, you should love the body that you see. If you’re not happy with the size or shape of your breasts, then you’ve probably considered breast implants. Women who want to have breasts proportional to their body size or who just want a little more fullness in their breasts can get incredible results with breast implants.

Your appearance and well-being are our top priorities, which is why we give every one of our patients the honest recommendations they need to make an informed decision.

We know that making this kind of life-changing decision is difficult. That’s why we often offer a second free consultation for patients who need a little more information or need more questions answered before making their final decision.

“Try On” Your Breast Implants

Patients considering breast augmentation can get an accurate idea of how their implants will look and feel beforehand. During your consultation, you’ll be able to try on a variety of breast implants to help you make your decision and give you an idea of what your results may look like. Your sizing session is included in your free consultation.

During your consultation, your doctor will review the different types of breast implants. They’ll discuss the variety of sizes and shapes and make recommendations based on your goals, unique proportions, and breast size.

All of our breast implants are FDA-certified and safe. There are three basic types: silicone gel, highly cohesive silicone, and saline implants. Learn more about each option below.

Silicone Gel Implants

Many women feel that silicone offers the most natural feel for breast implants. Women often tell us that silicone gel implants provide a particular “give” that most closely resembles breast tissue. In addition, these breast implants are:

  • Filled with silicone gel to a set volume to achieve different sizes.
  • Available in different “projections” (the distance from the chest to the end of the breast).
  • Creates a fuller, rounder breast than “gummy bear” implants (described below).
  • Generally cost more than saline implants

Saline Breast Implants

Doctors have used saline implants for decades because they can provide a very natural-looking, symmetrical, and cost-effective outcome for the right patient. Because they are slightly firmer than silicone, patients can achieve ideal results with saline if they have more natural breast tissue before the surgery. This extra tissue provides good coverage and padding around the implant.

Implants that use saline are:

  • Filled with a saltwater solution (by the surgeon) to achieve the right size.
  • Available with different projection options to suit your body type.
  • Generally cost less than silicone implants.

“Gummy Bear” Silicone Breast Implants

Patients are often very excited to learn more about these newest implants. Highly cohesive silicone implants—better known as “gummy bear” implants—are the latest advancement in breast implants. They provide a firm-yet-pliable consistency that is similar to that of a gummy bear candy. As a result of their structure, they hold their shape in any position, which can create a very natural slope along the upper portion of the breast. “Gummy bear” implants:

  • Are pre-filled to a set size with a highly cohesive silicone gel.
  • Come in multiple sizes in an anatomically shaped implant.
  • Feel somewhat firmer than silicone gel.
  • Require an inframammary incision, located in the crease underneath the breast.

Breast Implant Placement

Another critical decision that we discuss with patients is “where” to place the implant. There are two different options, each with pros and cons that you will learn more about during your consultation.

  • Subglandular placement – With this option, the implant is placed on top of your chest muscles (pectoralis).
  • Submuscular placement – In the submuscular option, the implant is placed underneath your chest muscle.

Free Consultation

During your consultation, you will have the opportunity to explore each type of implant and review the projection options. Your doctor will use their knowledge, skill, and experience to help you determine which implant will help you achieve your goals, prioritizing a natural-looking and graceful outcome.

We know that every woman has an “ideal” breast shape and size that she’s trying to achieve.
